Bangkok Center (Phloenchit to Siam)
The heart of Bangkok with Siam with all its shopping area, The lung with Lumpini park and of course many condos to select for a great living!
The center of Bangkok is very popular for its numerous large shopping malls that are some of the biggest in southeast asia (Siam Paragorn, Central World...). But this is also a great place to stay if you plan having a condominium with easy access to the whole of Bangkok! A lot of luxurious condominiums have been built in the past years around Siam, Chitlom, Langsuan and Phloenchit. This is not over yet with a lot of mega projects including condominium units being built there.
What makes this place so popular is certainly not the traffic (very heavy) but more the fact that you can easily access some express way to get rid of it and the nearby BTS / Airport Link lines.
Depending of the streets you walk in you will find some high rise and low rise alternatively. Most of the buildings there are modern (with some very new or renovated ones), and very luxurious condominiums are being built as well.
Prices in the area tend to be high so you will find mainly wealthy thai people living there and business people from all around the world. Actually a lot of people also decide to buy condos around Phloenchit, Chitlom and Siam as they are great investments taking value rapidly and easy to be rented out.
Bangkok center is defined by a diversity of people's nationality which makes the area really international and you may even find some neighbor from your previous country there.
Near Phloenchit you can walk to the soi Ruam Rudee constantly evolving with many private and luxurious condominiums and a few high rise as well (especially at the entrance of the soi), you can even walk to the popular Lumpini Park from this soi. On the other side of Sukhumvit road a few low rise condominiums in soi Nai Loet are also to be found. Both soi connect to Sukhumvit and Witthayu road making it easy to escape Bangkok traffic.
Chitlom is popular by hosting one of the first Central department store ever built (Central Chitlom), the soi nearby is populated by new condominium units in the luxury range. On the other side of the road Langsuan road is very popular as well with many luxurious project (mainly high rise) and the nearby Rajdamri road is also evolving rapidly with the new department store Central World (one of the biggest in SE Asia). Chitlom is also popular as it provides an easy access to two BTS lines and the Lumpini park from Langsuan and Rajdamri roads. The american embassy is also located in the nearby soi Ton Son.
From Siam to Victory Monument is Phayathai road, topped by the BTS line. Condominiums will be mainly located along that road and roads intersecting (Petchaburi and Si Ayuthaya) with some new development near Victory Monument as well which is a great place with the park nearby and all busses departing from this point. Average prices there are lower than the other central area of Bangkok so you can find very good deals around there (but beware the traffic).
Traffic jams all day long around the shopping centers may make you decide not to settle around Siam, however this is not as bad as it looks: if you live in this area you will not need to use your car for your shopping, and if you need to the distance is short. Many access to express ways and shortcuts make it easy to travel. If you plan on driving check on the nearby streets and shortcuts so you can validate your condo choice.
Traveling from one place to another is made easy using the most popular transportation system in Bangkok: the BTS. Many stations with 2 lines of BTS and 1 line of Airport express (Phayathai station) gives access to every part of the city so you won't need a taxi anymore.
