Popular among the japanese community, phrom phong is a quiet and green area with many luxury condos.
Phrom Phong area is organized around Emporium department store and Benjasiri Park. This is mostly a residential area that is very popular among the japanese community. It also features some shopping centers (Emporium being the most popular there) and a few offices as well. Benjasiri park is very popular in the evening for joggers but there are also some other sporting facilities in there. Most people will also just go there and sit near the pond reading a book or chatting. During Loy Krathong festival there is a huge activity with a lot of people putting their small krathongs in the lake.
This area is very well known for its huge japanese community as there are many facilities and shops for japanese people there. Of course there are also other foreigners and thai living there, you will find some of the most luxurious condominiums all around there.
There is activity on the streets every day of the week as people commute and go to the shopping center or for a jogging in the small but beautiful benjasiri park.
Driving, you can join Phrom Phong by Sukhumvit Road but also the Rama 4 road which is located south and connected by the soi 24 up (next to Emporium). Traffic in Sukhumvit is quite dense, however you will find out that nearby sois are easy to use and the roads there are well maintained (as well at footpath).
There is also of course a BTS station located on Sukhumvit with direct access to the Emporium shopping mall, this station allows you to travel freely everywhere in the city without having to endure the traffic jams of Bangkok.
Of course the main shopping center there is Emporium, but you will also a Villa Market for imported food on the other side of the road as well as some japanese supermarket. There is also a newly built village market called K Village that you will find in Sukhumvit soi 26. There is also a popular seafood market and restaurant on the soi 24 if you want to try something new.
If you do not want to travel much, you will definitely enjoy Phrom Phong area as every products you will want to buy are available nearby. And in case you are looking for something very specific, you still can travel easily using the BTS line then.
The nearest and most convenient hospital around will be Samitivej Hospital. You will find it in Sukhumvit soi 49. This hospital is very well organized and always improving services. You may even enjoy going there (but hopefully you won't need it).
Phrom Phong area is mostly quiet. There are a few bars and clubs if you feel like going out in the evening: you can surely try the Robin Hood located opposite side of Emporium, a very popular spot for foreigners living in this area.
You will also find plenty of great japanese restaurants everywhere, I would recommend you have a look at the opposite side of Emporium for Ramen Tei if you like Ramen, or Nakamura for a japanese bakery shop. Then you can also walk to K Village where you will find a lot of restaurants.
